My name's Luisa Weiss. You might know me from my blog, The Wednesday Chef. I used to be a cookbook editor and I used to live in New York. Now I'm a full-time writer and I live in Berlin.
I started Berlin on a Platter to write about the little discoveries I'm making in Berlin, about my favorite bakeries and snack stands, the hidden gems I might (or might not) find on my journeys around the city, gustatory wonders at the grocery store, a good restaurant in the East or a great one in the West.
But this blog has also been inspired by my exasperation with how much terrible food is still available in Berlin these days. I need a place to vent. So consider this my personal culinary notebook. My photos and text are protected by copyright. A quick guide to copyright laws can be found here.
If you're coming to Berlin and you want some guidance about where to go and what to eat, you can check out my favorite cafés and bakeries as listed in the Guardian's Berlin City Guide here, and also my top ten places for breakfast and brunch in Berlin.
