Hubba hubba indeed! That video was great. At culinary school we learn that technique as "crashing". Last week the baking class downstairs from me was making brioche (a super wet and fatty dough that needs to be crashed because it's too wet to be kneaded). Imagine that sound times 12. While you're taking a test. Oy.

Whoops, need the link for Big Sur, dying to see more of California, I just returned from LA. It links to whiskey marmalade (which looks delish, by the way)! Sounds like the perfect honeymoon and a dramatic getaway for Berliners! (Berliners?)

Thanks for the links-- great Friday idea.

Whiskey marmalade? I have to get on that right away. So jealous, Berlin Philharmonic!

Love this new Friday post. Thanks for sharing your finds. Happy Spring to you.

Love roundups posts! Since I now have contact-free Fridays, it's another reason to have a gander around the web instead of doing some writing ;P

Great round up! Coralie-Bickford Smith is a genius!!

Curious about the Big Sur photos--the link was taking me to whiskey marmalade...

Ooops, link is fixed!

Thanks for the Favorites inspiration. I appreciate the ideas. I have gone so many places (webwise) due to favorites lists. You've given me the impetus to make my own list, which will help me to even more appreciate my life and the things that are a part of it. Adriennes' comment made me laugh out loud. Now I'll have to watch the video. And you've reminded me that I should really visit Big Sur, as I live only about an hour away. Have a great Friday.

I just had to post again, after visiting the links. That park is amazing! I wish I could sit there with you. I will have to try the popcorn recipe. I've bookmarked and emailed it. Do the flavorings really stick? I've copied some recipes from the Big Sur Bakery cookbook. I'll have to go in person, but actually, it's three hours away. With gas hovering at $5 I may have to wait a while. Thanks again for your time and inspiration.

we honeymooned in sonoma/napa and took the pch up for the sole purpose of stopping at big sur bakery, it's one of my most favorite places and every time we go i fall a little bit more in love.

I love this post. I think a "round up" is a great idea!!!!! Love the whiskey marmalade recipe. I think I will have to make that tomorrow (Saturday) afternoon.

I love the PCH in late spring, perhaps April-May, when the hillsides are still green, and the fragile California poppies carpet the terrain. Other times of the year are nice, too, as the ocean keeps the temperatures moderate. In July, it'll sometimes be 20C in Carmel but 35C+ just 20km inland.

The photos here do the beauty of the coast justice ... which is to say that they're "normal" and not overbearingly processed. You'll pretty much get to see what they show.

Love the round-up--thanks especially for the link to David Lebovitz's article on blogging. It's brilliant!

Yum, stove-top popcorn is my favourite snack. I don't usually mess with the original but I might try something new... my husband and sister in law grew up sprinkling nutritional yeast on their popcorn!
Did you enjoy doing the interview? Did it make you feel more like a soon-to-be-published writer?

1. love hte phrase hubba hubba. 2. being a so cal native, i think a road trip along pch sounds FABULOUS. Quite a nice idea. Maybe I'll have the pleasure of running in to you two :)

I went to Big Sur for my 18th birthday and can still hear the sound of the water against the cliffs. Go!

& now you're making me hanker for that quiche again -- and the chickpea salad.

Deborah Krasner's + "Good Meat" + Bacon Popcorn - is all I have to say (since you've discovered the joy :))

On the edge of my seat for "Blood, Bones & Butter".

Adore Big Sur - what a drive :).

Glad to hear the weather is allowing outings, here it was -26 on Thursday. Inhuman :).

My boyfriend and I just went on a brief weekend trip to Big Sur and it was truly amazing. We stayed here http://www.glenoaksbigsur.com/ and since a skunk sprayed in our room, they upgraded us to our own private cabin. It was AMAZING. We brought bread, cheese, salumi, and beer and ate by the fireplace and in the morning sipped warm tea on our private porch. I definitely recommend it. Also, big sur bakery is worth the hype. I got a salad with local halibut, butter lettuce and meyer-lemon dill dressing and he got the delicious 9 grain pancake. If you go, I also recommend Point Reyes north of SF. It's a bit far from Big Sur, but one of my favorite places on earth.

Much too long for a comment, but you can see I'm really passionate about the California Coast!

Love this idea of sharing links! Also am now in love with that French baker -- so cute and it makes me happy that he uses his sizeable muscles to knead bread.

What a lovely photo! I wish spring had sprung here, too. And I loved David Lebovitz's post -- that's where I found yours!

Your writing is beautiful - transporting and diverting, simply spoken and flawlessly phrased. I'm really looking forward to your book!

Yay! I'm so glad you've introduced Friday link love. I have my eye on the popcorn recipe with sesame oil - living in China, it's always exciting to discover new recipes I can realistically find the ingredients for :)

We're talking about honeymooning on Pacific Coast Highway! It's my favorite part of the US. And the microbreweries along the way!!!!

Love this. Although I really should be spending less, not more, time, on the Internet, poking around this site was like poking around your brain a little bit. It's very interesting in there!

Thank you! A weekly post to look forward to. I often keep a new post of yours for later, when I might need something to lift my mood. So I did with the Paris posts, and then the comments were closed. So encore: Congratulations and Best Wishes from a silent reader who comes here above all because of the calm, the kindness, and the beauty of your writing. Happy spring to you, dearest favourite blogger!
