Positively divine. Time-consuming from start to finish but I substituted some favorite tunes for the gimlets and found the whole process meditative. I skipped the bacon and didn't miss it, but no way would I hold back on the shrimp.

as an italian child, THANK you for your empathy! i don't know how many times have i had to remind myself not to drink cappuccino after ten, even after graduating from my grandmother's kitchen. =) your wit cracks me up, and i can't wait to bend the rules on this chowder.

This looks nice and hearty for a cold day. I will definitely have to check this one out. I hope I can skip the fennel - I live in Japan and have never seen it in regular supermarkets.
