This sounds AMAZING! Dumplings get me going every time, what other serving ideas are there for this recipe?? Tara

I haven't had these sweet dumplings in the longest time so you can imagine I was quite delighted to find this recipe. Can't wait to share it with my friends! I absolutely love the pictures and descriptions you have in these articles. :) Have you thought about setting up a http://www.proprofs.com/polls/ poll for your readers? I find them useful, and fun too!

My Mother's family was from the same area and I grew up eating a version of these made with Italian prune plums. The dough we made was the same dough used for pierogis. Served hot, we would slice in half and garnish them with cottage cheese, melted butter and sugar (sometimes with a little bread crumbs). It was part of the main meal served with kielbasa sometimes. I always look for the plums in August and think of Mom's home cooking. I'm thinking now of trying apricots!

My family makes plum dumplings like these only when they are cut open we us a smidgen of sugar, then cottage or dry cheese, and drizzle with melted butter. Mother was born in Austria Hungary.
My aunt made them with the breadcrumbs but I always liked my mother's best. So good!

In Hungary these dumpling are made with prune plums or damson plums. One of my favourite desserts since childhood.
