Thanks a lot for the recipe! cristallized ginger? I had to look for this one, never heard of before.

I love your description of the internet as a warm and cozy place. It can be, can't it? I'm from Canada and live in Mexico, and keep track of friend and family on the internet. And I get to read wonderful articles by interesting writes like you. How great is that!

I too loved A Homemade Life, especially the title. To me, those three words capture the essence of what it means to be a home cook. Why else would we spend so much time in the kitchen if not to make that space feel like home?

I love the idea of making this bread in a round cake pan! I've made it twice in a bread pan, and the outsides of my loaf end up a little too browned. I'll have to try your cake pan suggestion.

PS If and when you ever write a book, I'll be among the first in line to buy my copy! You inspire me.

What a Great book! Love the recipes I just got it this weekend at Amazon ....wonderful reading and great info:)

Thanks for the sharing info:)

It's so great to have a friend to be on the journey with! Thanks for sharing a little peak into your friendship and blogs! From two friends, Kristin(Baltimore, MD) & Chris Ann (Minneapolis, MN)

It came in the mail yesterday, and I'm already halfway through it! My LORD this book makes me want to quit my job and never leave my kitchen again, except for grocery shopping... Fantastic!

For those who like this book, and Luisa this recommendation especially goes out to you, I think you would also LOVE the book "Good Day for a Picnic: Simple Foods that Travel Well." This book is an ode dining and drinking outdoors, and is as much a brilliant cooking narrative as it is a brilliant cookbook. I read it cover to cover every June, and have made many many of the wonderful recipes. Also, it won my heart instantly because the author, Jeremy Jackson, is a native of my beloved home state of Iowa and his Midwestern style shines through every page.

So glad you mentioned the bitter creamy salad, it was one of the first things I made from the book and it was outstanding. I'm already passing the recipe on to friends.

Just wanted to say I made this last night is it is REALLY good. I brought it to work and 5 people ate it in literally 5 minutes! Hope life is getting a little easier everyday for you Luisa.

This is great. I am a long-time fan of both your site and Molly's and reviewed her book on my site last winter. I also baked, photographed and printed this recipe. LOL! I think it means that great minds think alike

Wonderful post and beautiful words for a friend....

Crystallized ginger is amazing stuff. It adds a complexity in flavor to desserts like this delicious recipe. I even use ginger to help me with the occasional upset stomach and I have friends that swear that it eases cold symptoms. The next time I sneeze I'll have three slices of this banana bread.
