What a beautiful post, my friend. I could almost taste those tomatoes and berries - just luscious. I'm sure I'm not the only one who's more than a little jealous...

But welcome home, ma cherie, even if it's bittersweet. We missed you!

Oh wow. Just reading this post has made me ache for real home-cooked italian food. I will have to try and track down my distant relatives over there. You didn't run into any Spampinatos, did you?

I love fruity summer desserts. This looks delicious, even if the crisp did melt away. I'm really hungry now!

Oh it is hard to come back from a time like that.

Your crisp is a beautiful color, and looks delicious. I think nectarines (or peaches) and berries are seriously made for one another. Pretty much my all time favorite pie is the nectarine-blueberry combination. I just got some well priced seasonal blueberries, and if they are still on sale this week, I think I'm going to need to get me some nectarines and make a pie.

Too soon to try one with peaches.
I think the nectarine was a great development. They are much more reliable than peaches, and the absence of fuzziness is nice for eating out of hand. There is nothing, though, that beats an in-season really good ripe peach.

Welcome home, Luisa! Your Italian talk is really whetting my appetite for my trip to Italy this fall and makes me realize I've got to plan my itinerary.

I, too, love the combination of blueberries and peaches (or nectarines) in crisp, pie, or cobbler. I recently discovered that melting the butter makes for a nice crisp topping on a crisp.

Oh my goodness, the whole thing looks so ab fab. It's so hot in the Sac Area, but it might be worth cranking on the oven for this!

I can understand how it would be hard to come back to your New York kitchen and cook after eating food made with ingredients like that. It's interesting that fruits and vegetables should have such a much more intense flavor in Italy. I wonder is it a matter of the varieties that are cultivated? Soil and climate? All of the above.

I hope that Maine sea air and the ever wonderful corn!lobsters!blueberries! diet work their magic and help with your re-assimilation to American food.

BTW, your crisp looks delicious. Blackberries and nectarines are a wonderful combination.

Hi, hope you had a great time on your vacation. I follow your blog and love the recipes that you post , everything is absolutely delicious and this recipe looks amazing, I'm going to try it.
